Looking for information about an ancestor?
The recreated Third New Jersey Regiment is first and foremost a living history organization. As such, we do not maintain records or genealogical information about individuals attached to or associated with the original Jersey Blues. For that kind of information, we suggest these sources as a starting point:
William Stryker's, Officers and Men of New Jersey in the Revolutionary War Orig. pub. Trenton, 1872; most recently Genealogical Publishing Co., 1967, which can often be found in large libraries throughout New Jersey, or might be had through inter-library loan.
Stryker's Jerseymen of the American Revolution has records of the 1st Establishment.
More easily gotten, Citizen Soldier, The Revolutionary War Journal of Joseph Bloomfield, Edited by Mark E. Lender & James Kirby Martin, NJ Historical Society, 1982, 160 pgs. It documents Bloomfield's company, mostly 1776.
Also: General William Maxwell and the New Jersey Continentals, by Harry M. Ward, Greenwood Press.
Inquiries can also be made to the New Jersey State and National Archives.
